Full refurbishment and extension to the rear and roof of this terraced property in Camber Sands, Rye. Incoporating traditional Yaki Sugi (burnt timber) cladding which provides natural preservatives and protection. It also encompasses a sauna, gym and hot tub.
Situated on the incredibly beautifull Camber Sands beach in East Sussex, we we created a series of burnt timber extensions located within a landscape of native grasses and plants, blurring the boundary between house and landscape.
A living space is situated on the upper floor taking advantage of the ever changing seascape of the English Channel whilst balcony roof lights provide views across to Dungeoness.
We curated a pallette of materials evoking memories of the sea with subdued colours and natural textures. Locally sourced furniture and fittings were carefully selected and restored to enhance the original features.
